The Yonex RDS 002 Mid Plus is the latest player's racquet offering from Yonex, and is a control frame for the intermediate to advanced player looking for stability and manuverability in a player-oriented package, albeit with a lighter, more maneuverable feel. The RDS 002 slots in between the heavier RDS 001 and the 'tweener RDS 003, offering a nice compromise of the other 2 frames. The RDS 002 still provides control and predictability with a very traditional feel and in a standard length. Think of it as a lighter-weight version of the RDS 001. The RDS 002 Mid Plus plays as though it has a larger sweetspot than its 98 square inch headsize would suggest, feeling solid yet forgiving.
The RDS 002 also introduces the Aero Box Variframe concept, which provides a more aerodynamic cross section at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock points on the frame. Yonex claims a 10% improvement in air flow over the frame by reducing aerodynamic drag via this new Aero Box Variframe shape.
The RDS series from Yonex also features the use of Elastic Ti in the shaft of the racquet. Elastic Ti vercomes the limitations of conventional frame materials. With its powerful rebound effect, a split second after impact and deflection, the Elastic Ti frame snaps back to its original shape with high accuracy and with the full energy of the swing.
