Shoe fits well, does not slip off heel, gives enough room in the toes (I often take an 8W in New Balance). I like that the base near the pinky toe extends out a bit for stability and arch has just enough support. (Female, 50's, restarting tennis)
I feel the Speed 2's fit better. Unfortuately, Asics has now stopped making the 2's. The Speed 3's are wider on the lateral part of the shoe. Bring back the 2's!
I have worn out my Speed 1 and have bought four pair of Speed 2's. I liked the color and thought I would try the Speed 3. I never had to break in my other shoes. The added rubber on the front near the toe joint was very uncomfortable. The added rubber took some of the breathability away as well. Disappointed in Asics. I will need to search eBay for Speed 2's or try other shoes.
Do not like this shoe as much as the speed 2.. it is not as low profile... that is what I have liked about the speed 1 & 2.... not sure why asics had to mess with a good thing... please bring back the speed 2's!!!
I love the Speed 2 and recently purchased the Speed 3. I feel like they are a bit wider with more rubber on the lateral part of the shoe. They have more room in the upper part of the shoe. They are great for narrow feet especially in the heel. However, I like the Speed 2 way better.
I've been wearing Nike Vapors for the last couple years but have made the recent switch to the Speed 3 because of a better fit and more support/cushioning. My feet are narrow except for the toe area and I have zero arch. I like my shoes to be light and low to the ground which is exactly how the Speed 3s feel when I play. I do think you need to have narrow feet to wear these shoes. Since that is my situation I really appreciate these shoes.
I loved the color combination but comfort always wins with shoes. These did not win. Too bad.
I'm a bit disappointed about the quality of these shoes. I was hoping lots of cushion like the very first version of this line. I wonder if manufacturing at a different place has something to do with it. I have been buying the Speed Gel Solution kind for the past 3 years and I'm considering switching to other brand because they didn't meet my expectations. Besides the light cushion, I find the left hand side shoe has some defects with the overall alignment and it has lower arch than the right shoe.
I have a narrow foot and these are perfect
