The latest update to the slightly heavier and more player-oriented Babolat Pure Drive Roddick, the new Pure Drive Roddick GT (Graphite Tungsten) adds a hybrid of braided carbon fibers and tungsten filaments throughout the entire racquet. Tungsten strengthens the frame to reduce torque for greater precision (Babolat claims 26% more precision compared to the previous Pure Drive). Babolat continues to utilize the Cortex vibration filter at the top of the handle. Cortex is used in several of Babolat's players racquets to enhance feel by cancelling only the 2 highest vibration frequencies. Only those frequencies that enhance feel are permitted to pass through the Cortex filter.
Babolat has kept the specifications on the new Pure Drive Roddick GT virtually the same as the previous generation Pure Drive Roddick Team and Pure Drive Roddick Cortex. That is, the Pure Drive Roddick GT remains the definitive tweener (between powerful/controlled) frame. 100 sq. in. head, 11.80 ounce strung weight, and 315 swingweight provide an excellent balance of power, control, and maneuverability. Meant to more closely replicate the weight of Andy's racquet, the Pure Drive Roddick GT provides a little more stiffness and power, provided you are able to handle the additional weight.
