2012 Babolat Pure Drive
Play Tester: Justin R

  • Excellent stability and feel
  • Ball comes of racquet with good power from baseline, but racquet has enough feel to be used comfortably at the net.

  • Negatives:

Racquet can be too much power for a very advanced player who has a fast swing speed.

    Overall racquet performance?

The ultimate tweener frame that can be used by 3.5-4.5 players who have varied playing styles.

Is this a good update to previous model?

Feel has been improved over last year’s GT model through the new enhanced cortex filter. Has a nice new black and blue cosmetic.

Any major things that stand out on this frame?

Nothing in particular stood out on this frame, positive or negative.

What player level would you suggest for this frame?

3.0-4.5 players who have a moderate to fast swing speed looking for an exceptional combination of control and power.

    Would you purchase this racquet?

    Personally owns two

What other racquets on the market that might play similar?
    • Prince Speedport Black
    • Wilson Juice 100
    • Head YouTek IG Speed 300

5 Stars Great racket

from MD wrote (July 18, 2015):

just as good as 2015 version. great mix of control, spin, power for those that generate average to above average racket head speed

5 Stars Superb Racquet

from OR wrote (January 25, 2015):

This racquet is the only racquet for players who have a complete game, can vary shots, speed, spin etc. It is the perfect weight and well balanced. I am seriously impressed by the way it plays and cannot imagine having another racquet.

I use to be a wilson racquet guy, but once I tried the Babolat Pure Drive there was no going back. Babolat knows Tennis Racquets.

5 Stars Great Racket

from IL wrote (May 03, 2014):

I needed another racket for a back up. This racket came within 3 days and I already had to use it when I broke another string. It was strung right to my specifications and I have won the last 3 matches playing with it.

5 Stars great raquet

from IN wrote (December 28, 2013):

This is the third generation of this racquet i have used. It has an amazing combination of power and control , very forgiving of imperfectly hit balls, and, best of all, very easy on the arm

5 Stars Pure Drive Rocks

from IN wrote (February 22, 2013):

Moved up from AeroPro Team to Pure Drive and have been playing with it for 4 months now. The biggest change was getting used to the heavier frame. Very powerful and solid racquet with excellent feel. Every stroke is more penetrating and good for all court game. I am rated at 4.0 and play with Babloat RMP blast 17G String at 58 LBS. Would highly recommend it to any player at or above 3.5 level who can handle 11+ Ounces weight.

5 Stars Great purchase

from VA wrote (September 04, 2012):

Moved up from the Youth Babolat to the Pure Drive. Took a bit to get used to a little different feel. It's a bit "tighter" than the older version. Lots more power, but still working on control and finesse with the different feel. Overall very pleased!

4 Stars Powerful Weapon

from KY wrote (August 06, 2012):

This stick added a whole new level of power to my game. Groundstrokes, serves and volleys all seemed to have a little more pop with this frame. It is one of the stiffer frames on the market, so it can be a little harsh on mis-hits. With good form, this frame is a weapon.
