I ordered this racquet for my husband (a 5.0 tennis player) for his birthday. He had previously tried out this racquet and liked it. The website and staff were helpful with choosing string and tension, the racquet was delivered promptly, and we are very pleased with the racquet and the whole shopping experience!
As a maturing tennis player, I was in search for a more playable yet versatile racket, trying to give up my old 340some gm mid size tour. After wandering through many brands I ran into this racket, borrowed from a friend when I did not have my racket on a trip. Now that I own one, it meant nirvana for an aging 4/4.5 player. Well balanced, powerful and accommodates fast strokes yet lighter than a tour racket at 305 gm unstrung. I will be stocking on this!
Solid stick. Good power, control and fairly easy to transition. Difficult not hit a solid shot with this racquet. This is a must demo. Not too heavy but heavy enough to generate power. After trying 12 new sticks it came down between this and the Pure Strike 100, I ended up going w/ the Pure Strike 100 as I like the feel a little better.
This Pure Strike 18x20 is a great departure for Babolat in terms of frame style and head shape and fills a much needed void between the Pure Storm (now Pure Control) and the Pure Drive. Enough heft to produce power with a little bit of flex on certain shots to provide a comfortable feel and ease on the arm. It is being compared to the Blade, but I feel it is has more feel on touch shots than the Blade and more pop on ground strokes as well. The dense string pattern is great for players who want to put more drive and depth into their shots, but still yields strong spin potential when needed. A great all-around frame for the 4.0+ player who is looking for comfort on the arm as well as friendly power in a racquet well placed niche in the Babolat line.
I recently got back into tennis and found that I was using a racquet that was too light and too head light. After trial and error with a few models, I really like this one. Midwest was great at giving me advice on the strings, tension, etc. Very positive experience.
Racket is like a hybrid of the old head radicals & the wilson blade. It feels more stiff than the radical & more flexible than the blade. Solid from the backcourt & net. There is good pop on the serve (more than the radical but less than the blade). Shots feel solid in the sweetspot but shots outside of it are a bit weak & jarring. There is good feel & control on the shots but it can feel sluggish at times.. This is a solid 18X20 racket . Some may find it tough to spin if you are used to a 16X19 pattern but a full poly & lower tension will probably help. This racket seems geared more to aggressive, flatter ball strikers who are accustomed to hitting on-the-rise.
