The 1995 US Open was one of the most anticipated in years, with all eyes on the comeback of fan favorite Monica Seles. Seles won the US Open in 1991 and 1992. In April 1993, she was stabbed on-court during a match in Hamburg, Germany. Seles' absence from the tour stretched more than two years and returned to competitive play only one month before the 1995 US Open. It would come down to the two greatest players of their generation-Graf and Seles meeting in the final. It would be the first time the two had faced each other since the final of the 1993 Australian Open won by Seles in three sets and the match did not disappoint. There was a squandered set point in the opening stanza, a stunning 6-0 second set and, as of 2010, the last three-set women's singles final at the US Open, with the winner decided the slimmest of margins.
