The Prince Lightning 105 tennis racquet is the ultimate tweener racquet between the Lightning 100 and 110. The Lightning 105 serves as the perfect match for an up and coming beginner player seeking a great combination of power and comfort. The Prince Lightning at 105 square inches and 10.3 ounces, features enough room on the head of the racquet for beginners to maintain power on off-centered hits.
Sweet Spot expansion technology featured on this frame allows the string to pass through, and not touch the frame (or grommet), until the outside of the head. This effectively lengthens the string without having to make the head bigger - this enlarges the sweet spot. On impact with the ball, the string can flex more, which also helps to soften the feel and add comfort to the racquet. All in all the Lightning 105 is a great frame for a beginner to intermediate player seeking a good price point racquet that features the perfect combination of power, speed and comfort.
I tried both the lightning 110 and the 105 and ultimately decided to go with the 105. I like a larger head size, but the 110 just felt a little too large for me. They both provided the same amount of power (they’re just a tiny bit apart in weight) and control, so the biggest factor was the head size. I felt like my swing was a little too out of control with the 110 and I was able to get more depth and control with the 105. My serves seemed to place better with this one as well. They’re very similar racquets, but I would recommend the 105 to a player looking for just a slightly larger head size and moderate power and control.
