I’ve been playing the Blade 98S for a few years, play 4.0. Really like the feel of the frame, but thought a larger head size might help my net game. Demoed both the Serena Blade (SW104CV) 104sq.in., 28”, 11.4oz, 5pts head-light, and the standard Blade 104sq.in., 27.5”, 10.8oz, also 5pts head-light. They seem to be exactly the same except for the length. I didn’t think the ½” and .6oz would make much of a difference, but it does!
The standard 104” felt just like my old Blade 98S frames, but was more forgiving on the quick volleys. It felt great and my net game picked up noticeably. I really liked it.
In comparison the Serena frame, only ½”in longer and .6oz heavier, felt much heavier and slower. I liked it also, but felt I had to muscle it a bit to get good racquet head speed. Both frames felt great, but I decided on the standard Blade 104 for me. I felt I got more pop on the serve and it was faster at net. Anyone who is thinking about either of these frame should definitely demo both at the same time. They’re great frames, but have a noticeably different feel and swing-weight.
