The new Blade 98 16x19 updates the Wilson Blade family with the energy return benefits of Countervail. Countervail is a material concept designed to maximize energy transfer, reducing muscle fatigue and recovery time. The Blade 98 CV amps up the stealth look of its predecessor, with a matte black/gloss green finish and laser etched details. Maintains the traditional feel of its predecessor, along with nearly identical specs to the previous Blade 98 16x19.
A 21mm flat beam and 98 square inch headsize provide solid feel and optimal control for the intermediate to advanced player with a fast, looping swing. A versatile performer from all points on the court and ideal for a player seeking an open 16x19 string pattern for added spin. Parallel Drilling grommets for a more consistent response from the stringbed, as well as Braided Graphite + Basalt frame construction. Amplifeel
handle technology features basalt inserts, customized foam and a softer buttcap that provides a clean, enhanced feel. This frame is designed for today's big hitters, who feature a very aggressive attacking game, looking for a solid feel to go with classic control.
For Optimal String Performance Wilson Recommends:
Power:Wilson NXT Power
Control:Wilson NXT Control
Please Note: Wilson does not include a cover with this racquet.
This Countervail technology is legit! I immediately bought into this new racquet after playing a couple of matches with it. The feel is extraordinary, hits on both my forehand and backhand were flush and smooth. I've been increasing the speed of my shots and getting through the hitting zone rather quickly because this racquet is so easy to swing. Excellent update from Wilson. The cosmetic looks sharp as well. Overall I'm a big fan of this new update.

This racquet is amazing! I became interested in this racquet because of the countervail technology. I am an over fifty intermediate player. The idea of a racquet which would lessen the impact on my arm was very appealing. There is a cushion feel when you hit with this racquet that makes returning even powerful shots pleasurable. It also gives you more pop on your shot. It seems like shots I don't think I'll make magically get over the net. It is forgiving if you miss the sweet spot. When you do hit the sweet spot you get a powerful shot with great accuracy. I am so pleased with the racquet as well as the great customer service from Midwest.

Stable, control, power and solid plow through, excellent topspin and slice, and super plush feel. Strung with Solinco Hyper-G 16L at 49l bs. I'm a 4.5 player who hits hard topspin but flattens out shots when necessary. Have used the racquet for a total of 22 hours. The shot accuracy is incredible. More forgiving on off center hits than the 2015 Blade 16x19 which I've used since their release. The CV feels stiffer for the better. And it feels heavier than 2015 Blades but weighs and swings the same, 11.5 ounces with Gamma Shockbuster II dampener. Also feels like there's more mass to this racquet upon impact with the ball. Stretched out or off balance volleys are still solid. My service percentage/accuracy have gone up on first and second serves. Though specs are significantly different, it plays and feels like my all-time favorite racquet, the Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 Classic (bought 3 in 1991 and used them until 2015). Very pleased with and excited about this Blade iteration!
