The 2015 Blade 98 18x16 updates previous generations of the Wilson Blade family. The 2015 Blade 98 continues to maintain the stealth look of its predecessor, while adding a striking green foil graphic at several points around the frame, no doubt for a bit more visual impact on court.
The Blade 98 S features Wilson's legendary Spin Effect Technology
which permits additional string movement, increasing the RPM of every shot! Spin oriented 18x16 string pattern, 11.0 oz. strung weight, 21mm flat beam and 98 square inch head provides solid feel and control for intermediate to advanced players with fast swing.
Continues to provide excellent frame feedback offered by basalt fiber BLX
technology. Improved feel thanks to Amplifeel handle technology. Parallel Drilled
grommets for a more consistent response from the stringbed, as well as Braided Graphite + Basalt frame construction.

Spin Effect Technology
The first racquet technology that will increases your PRM's for you. This technology will maximize string movement to increase the strings snap back by 69% without changing a thing in your swing.
This technology uses BLX designed inserts made from basalt composite that are placed within the handle along with engineered foam material for vibration dampening.
Smart Sensor Ready
This features provides the opportunity for you to add your smart sensor to the end of this racquet handle. With the smart sensor technology you can track your shots and strokes, and then analyze your play in real time.
By drilling the grommet holes parallel to each other this technology not only increases the sweet spot but also established a more forgiving string bed response.
Braided Graphite + Basalt
Braided graphite and basalt are combined to create a reactive material used in the frame of the racquet. The combination of these materials increase the flex of the frame creating added feel and control.
I am a middle of the road player, I'd say around 3.5, So I may not be the most qualified to judge a racquet, but I'll give it a shot. I really enjoyed this racquet form the start. It had a nice blend of not only power but spin as expected. I typically hit a flatter styled ball on my groundstrokes, but with this stick I was able to get some solid topspin. It has a lightweight feel and I noticed that some of power was compromised due to this. This stick had a nice feel with crisp response, enjoyed added control with the 18 main strings. Good depth on the majority of my shots from all over the court. If have tried any of the Blade's and are looking for the lightweight spin friendly version, the Blade 98S has your name on it.

I’m a mid level 4.0 interclub player, just starting to play a 3-4 times a week. I’ve been looking to make a switch from a heavier frame that hasn’t been giving me the feel I’ve been wanting. I demo’d this frame and made the purchase after a couple times hitting with it. The lightweight of the frame makes it easy to swing through my ground strokes with no arm pain and little effort. The balance of power and control can’t be beat. I noticed slightly more power and pop on my serve (much needed!) as well as added spin on the groundies. This can definitely be attested to the spin effect technology on the frame, allowing for additional string movement. The power and touch on this frame makes a perfect racquet for those who are looking to add more spin to their shots and some control. Really enjoying this frame. For reference I strung this with Luxilon Big Banger at mid tension.

Great all around racquet, my go to for competition. Great feel and feedback. Spin effect pulls in balls previously just missing long with extra topspin. Solid for serving and from baseline. An occasional unexpected flyer, so so at the net

Wanted to demo this frame after seeing all the rave reviews. Have to be honest and say i don't know what all the fuss was about. It's a good, solid frame but not enough to make me switch. Maybe it had a bad string job but had no feel whatsoever.
