I had been looking for a new racquet for a really long time. My previous racquet, a Blade 93 18x20 offered great control and balance, but felt a bit muted, mainly because of the dense string pattern. Before that, I played Wilson K-Factor Pro Staffs (good feel, but rather stiff).
This new Pro Staff 95s brings back the exceptional traditional feel of Graphite/Kevlar. The thing reminds me of the 1990s Pro Staff Classic 95 16x18, which was just a blast to play. But it feels faster, picks up spin very well.
While I like these properties a lot, some players may not like the racquet for three reasons: It's designed for players with long swings (and a good technique); it doesn't generate a lot of power. Second, at the net, you may feel the downside of the (very) open string pattern as control could be a bit better. Third, you will break a lot of strings and may want to switch to alternative setups. I used to use the Gamma Professional 17 and 16s, which broke after 5 to 8 hours of match play (on other 95in and 93in Wilson Pro Staffs and Blades, respectively). With this racquet, I have to have it restrung after 2 hours. Unless I use another string, like Babloat Addiction 16 or Luxilion 4G.
It's always a trade-off. But I truly recommend this one for more aggressive, seasoned players expect great feel, control, and flex from a traditional frame.
I bought two 95s from Midwest Sports and was extremely happy. The order was processed and shipped the same day (including stringing) and arrived at my door the next evening. This is how online shopping should be.
Kept all the good things about the last version: the spin, awesome net game potential, great feel, precision, and did I mention the spin? Along with this, the racquet feels much more stable, posseses a slightly higher swingweight, and has much better plow through when compared to the previous version. I love playing with this racquet!
