I have been playing for over 30 years and never played with a better racquet. My previous racquet was a Prince Tour 98 Esp which I loved. However, the arm friendly strings I used would break after 12 hours of play. I loved this racquet from the first because of the power and same feel as the Prince. Much better power and feel than the Textremes I demoed.
I was debating whether to get this ULS, the LS or the regular 97, but I'm glad that I chose the ULS. In my opinion, I do not think the difference between the ULS and LS is a big one.
I was looking for a racquet that could provide me with excellent feel to go along with quick speed & ideal spin. Luckily my friend recommended me to this Wilson Pro Staff 97 ULS. So I took his advice and demoed this racquet. I'm relatively newer to the game of tennis, so the ten ounces strung weight was a nice beginning weight for. It really made the racquet maneuverable and easy to swing. I've noticed that my game is more on the aggressive side, so I really need to focus in on controlling my power. With the added maneuverability of the frame, I can really accelerate and get through my serves with good pace. So if you are in the market for a light weight frame with added spin and a comfortable feel, I would try this frame out.
Loved this racquet as a lighter option in the line of Pro Staffs. I have tried many racquets and this seems to be the perfect fit. I’m in my late 40’s now and can’t bang the ball around like I used to, so I knew that I wanted to switch to a lighter frame. I would say you can’t generate as much power as the regular Pro Staffs, but still enough to keep my shots deep. Due to the light weight of this frame I noticed that I am able to control my pace with no problem, and the swing is effortless. I’m able to move around the court with no problem and the maneuverability of this frame is excellent. I noticed added spin on almost all of my shots, but especially my serve. I was able to really enhance my kick serve because of the added spin. Overall the light swing weight and new spin effect really sold me on this frame. I strung it with Luxilon Adrenaline to get more durability out of the strings.
Only tried for demo purpose - Too light for me - liked Prostaff 97 better but still not sure if will purchase one
It is a very light racquet that still generate a lot of power. Excellent racquet.
I have been using a Pro Staff 95 for a few years. Excellent control, but no pop. I get the best of both worlds with the ULS. I didn't change my strokes at all, and I was hitting with a lot more spin and in turn, I am able to hit the ball harder than before. Serves have increased spin and more power, as well. Overall, I am very pleased with this new Pro Staff ULS. Awesome racket!
