Great racquet for a returning big hitter. Smooth and powerful. Much better shock absorbancy than stiff but lighter racquets, e.g., Volkl C-10, which were good but just didnt 'have the feel I was looking for.
My first ProStaff 85 in the year of Stefan Edberg and Pete Sampras majors in men sigles and doubles grand slam titles. I still play somtime with prostaff 85. Several years ago Wilson reproduced prostaff 85. I owned that one. During the years of Roger Federer, I owing completed lines of Pro Staff, I have played series of pro staff 90, never have any complaining. I love all pro staff series. In December 2015, I got decent prices for two of RF 97, the store in Boston going out of business. First, I used 100% of nature gusts, loved it so much, but it lasted only six sets and broked string in main. Then I used luxilon 4G 125 main (53 lbs) and pro line no ii from Kirschbaum (50lbs). Working very well for me after fewers sets when string breakin evenly. Now, I won every sets when played agaisted tall and powerful served as well big fordhand and the quality of tennis today was strong and exciting events. It is 12.0 oz no strings. Strong arms will be happy with RF97.
In my over 4o years of playing tennis, using every major brand. The RF97 Auto is by far the best feeling, great ploughthrough, huge sweetspot, if you have not tried this frame, then you are missing the chance of a lifetime. It's that good .....
I just demo'd this racquet because I was looking for something a little easier on my elbow. It is certainly a solid performer, just a little heavier than I like. If you don't mind the weight, most shots felt firm even when hit off center.
Compared with my previous two rackets - Wilson ncode 90 and k-factor 90, the RF97 is definitely an improved version of those, with regards to its sturdy impact on a ball. I like it!
Nothing like a real pro-staff real heavy. get less arm pump racing motocross than playing with this club !this is an advanced players racquet Reminds me of the old sampras style 110sq...Wilson you did good love it
I currently use the Pure Storm LTD and tried the RF and plain 97 Pro Staff. I love the RF with its super solid feel and plow through. Very solid on volleys and just great all around. I am ordering one!
I played before with a Vokl 10. It is another player's racquet, but I thought I could use a change. This racquet is much more stable, and I believe the mass adds more power/control. I really love what this has done to serves and volleys.
The RF97 is incredible. Effortless power. Volley with ease. Was framing a few shots with my 95 and the 97 has made a positive difference for me with this issue. Strung at 60#, produces great control with plenty of power.
They got it right. The wait was worth it. Strung it with Technifibre Black Code (52#) in mains and Gosen OG Sheep (57#) in crosses. Lots of power and spin. My groundstrokes were landing 3 feet farther than with the BLX 90 I was using before. This racket is SOLID. Good job, Roger/Wilson.
