With a 16x15 string pattern, spin is the name of the game with the Ultra 103S. The comfortable lightweight feel really allows me to take full cuts at the ball and have limited fatigue by the end of my matches. Power comes really easy with this racquet from all over the court, but especially from the baseline. Lively, smooth response and extra comfort with the cushion foam in the handle. Never played with an extended length racquet and I didn’t really notice much difference with this 27.25-inch length. The more and more I play with this racquet; the faster my game is improving. If you play with the Blade 104, this racquet will produce a lot more spin. Highly recommended.
This frame does it all. I hit flat since I still use the old continental grip. The Ultra helps with just enough spin to help me hit harder and keep it in. I use Black Code S and still have plenty of comfort. The control is there, while still providing the power. Wilson has done a great job with this new frame. I recommend it for any 3.5 player out there.
This racquet seemed to be a great choice for my age and level of play. As I am getting older I know that I should be transitioning to a larger head size, but I am not ready to go for something like a 108 or 110 yet. This was the perfect choice for me! I used to play competitively in college and interclub, but now I just play in a few leagues per week or with some girlfriends of mine for fun. This racquet really seemed to improve my baseline game greatly. The large sweet spot allowed me to generate the power I needed without exerting too much energy. I’ve always had pretty flat ground strokes, and I felt like this racquet helped me to gather more spin with the open string pattern. The maneuverability of the frame added to the control and precision of my volleys. The comfort of this racquet truly cannot be beaten. I love how my power is maximized and the effort is minimized with this frame. One piece of advice is to make sure to string this with polyester, as the multifilament strings will break pretty easily. I’m 65 years old and had this racquet strung with Luxilon 4G at a little less than mid tension.
This racquet was a great purchase. I used to play competitively growing up and now just hit with my buddies a few times a week. This racquet really does wonders for my baseline game. I appreciate that I can get plenty of power without too much exertion. Also, the control on my groundstrokes is top notch because of the string pattern and ability to access tons of spin. The large sweet spot contributes positively to my game too. IG+笻m finding that I can hit really explosive and precise serves. I tend to stay deeper on the court, but on the off chance that I do come to the net, IG+笻m able to be quick and effective. The maneuverability of this racquet allows me to have fast reaction time on my volleys. I love that I can play with the Sony Smart Sensor as well when I want a more in depth analysis of my game. The shock absorption on this racquet is very notable. It feels comfortable playing for extended periods of time.
As an older player I loved the bigger headsize which allowed me to generate more power. Big sweetspot, I noticed great plow through on some balls. Good comfort with minimal vibrations on my off centered hits. I am typically unable to generate a lot of spin but while playing with this frame I did notice a lot more spin to my game. Seems like the perfect frame for us older folks who like to play doubles and need the slightly larger headsize to generate additional power, without giving up control. I got this racquet strung up with Wilson's NXT 16G at mid tension 55lbs.
The racket is lighter than its predecessors form the Juice line. Ultra requires nearly flawless mechanics (no forgiveness for a hitch in the swing) G+ç+¦ Ultra also deems a player to generation huge amounts of power. The hand to racket feel is not quite there and the racket to ball connection is like two distant cousins meeting at a great aunt's funeral. Ultra is not for the hand that has gripped the juice - it feels like playing with this racket is - Dolly sheep's third gen-clone although itG+ç+ûs a sheep itG+ç+ûs not really an original!
