I love these shoes. The gel in ASICS has been a nice cushion for my arthritis in my left knee after years of tennis and running and surgery. I’ve never tried clay court shoes and I am hooked. I have very narrow feet, have worn several pair of this same shoe in the black color, and have really liked them. I tried several pairs of the pink, and it seems this color has a narrower toe box, many of them even too narrow for my foot. I eventually found a pair that worked, but only with very thin summer socks. So, it's a great shoe if you have very narrow feet. It's super supportive and lightweight.

Light weight

Tennis Florida from FL on 4/26/2019 12:00:00 AM wrote:

As the video says -- very light weight - bordering on flimsy. My reason for 4 stars is that it seems fit for a man's foot - the shoe widens out for the ball of the foot but it's not placed right for a woman's foot thus cramping the area where the ball of a woman's foot would be. I am used to the euro styled tennis shoe and feel this isn't quite the best fit

I have worn many brands of shoes but always come back to Asics for many reasons. First, they are really comfortable right out of the box. Asics Gel Speed shoes fit my narrow feet well, and I prefer the lightweight version over the heavier Gel Resolution 7. I play on Har Tru courts, and this is the first time I’ve tried official shoes for clay. It does seem easier to knock the clay off of the shoe soles between games, and they clean out more thoroughly using the Tread Blasters after play is complete, compared to regular soles on the same shoes.

Yes, the toe box is tight and yes, the (stupid) conversion to the rubber material on the uppers makes it less breathable but the shoe is indeed very lightweight and has fantastic lateral support. It is also quite durable. The ankle area rubs until the shoe is broken in, however, the break in period is very short, almost non- existent. I have come back to this shoe a second time despite its' shortcomings. I look forward to trying the next generation in which Asics will consider all the users' comments.

Next, I ordered 1/2 size up. Still too tight. The plastic-like material introduced in Speed 3 is inflexible, stiff, and doesn't allow proper ventilation. I did not want to suffer through breaking these tight plastic shoes in, so switched to Adidas. Very disappointed. Hopefully Asics listens to its loyal customers and makes changes in the future!

I wore them twice the first day, and they were great, no real break-in needed, light and comfortable. The third time I wore them, I made the mistake of wearing no-show socks, and this time the shoes rubbed my ankle and created a sore spot. Fourth time I wore higher socks and again they were fine.
