Description

The Head MicroGel Radical MidPlus is the latest version of Head's hugely successful Radical series, inspired by Andre Agassi.

Head has kept most specifications consistent with the Flexpoint Radical, but now with the added benefit of MicroGel technology. MicroGel offers aggressive, competitive players ultimate feel, unique touch, and added stability. When combined with carbon composite fibers in the racquet head, MicroGel deforms and compresses upon ball impact, uniformly absorbing and distributing the impact load around the entire frame, creating a rock-solid feel while offering extra stability against twisting.

Note: This racquet is pre-strung with Head Sonic Pro 16 at Head's recommended tension of 57 lbs.

Possibly the best racket under $100. This is not a beginner racket, yet it's cheap. However, the main reason I bought this is the Microgel version of Head Radical is pretty soft (less stiff than other rackets), and it's good for my body.

This is a very nice racquet with good swing weight and balance for all round game. It could have used a tighter string tension for more control.

I like the color scheme and the feel of the racquet. I dislike that the vibration dampener doesn’t stay in place when hit.

Love this racket, oddly I enjoyed playing with the old alloy Radical Elite Ti for years and after a lot of trial and error I happily discovered this iteration of the Head Radical line. Maybe a mental thing but I just find comfort in the bigger head and the newer vibration dampening materials. Finally hitting pain free topspin and harder serves.

Great racquet!

Best value. I handed my son my liquimetal radical and got this. Feels the same just a newer frame.

Had this racquet but I cracked it. Read many reviews to see if I wanted to change, nope. I kept coming back to this one, bought the same racquet, and I love it! Great spin, good control, lot's of power.

I’m rating this a 4 out of my confidence in the head brand. This racket has an amazing whip through the air. I was slamming 115+ mph consistently, with accuracy, and without feeling pain in my serving elbow (which is a giant problem). However, maybe this racket isn’t meant for such dramatic swing speeds since it is such a stiff and light frame, since on probably, the 300th serve with the racket I snapped it just above the handle. Who knows???! Maybe my swing is too fast and heavy. Maybe my serve is too flat. Maybe I got unlucky and got the 1 in 3000 that has a small but detrimental error in the stability of the frame. I won’t be asking for my money back, but I will be asking for a replacement to find out for sure what the issue is. If you are an amateur player with a slower swing speed and less strength, this racket is for sure for you. If you are pushing 200 lbs at 6 ft 4 and have a history of putting them down at 120 miles per hour down the center line then you may be taking a risk on this one. With the amount of control I had and my increased percentage on first serves, Id say but 2 just in case. Definitely worth the gamble. P.S. this does not mean I won’t be asking for a replacement. A racket of this quality should definitely handle my serve. I’ll bet I got a manufacturing error.

Recently got the racquet and really like it. It's a good mix of power and control for me. Solid feel and not too much vibration up the arm from it. I started playing tennis again after not playing for about 10 years and found this to be a good combination of power and feel with all the technology that's come out in racquets over the last several year. Plus at the price I couldn't be happier.

Excellent stick

This is a really great feeling racket. It is a very control oriented stick. You have a good set up and make a good stroke the ball goes where you want it to. It is best suited to a longer stroke that produces good power. It is great from the baseline, very good on swerves and overheads and very good at the net. The price is excellent. I will get it restrung a bit more towards the lower end of the recommended tension to get a little more power on my serve. I am very pleased with this purchase as I tend to prefer a thinner beam and not too stiff. I plan on buying another as a backup I like it that much.

Solid racquet

This is a very solid racquet! I love racquets like this that are made for a variety of players. It gives just the right amount of power and control, while allowing for some spin as well. I also liked that it was a 100 inch head size, which has a nice sweet spot, but not too big. With the oversize racquets I feel like there is too much power and not enough control where as this one seemed to balance perfectly. I felt extremely comfortable using this racquet and found myself approaching the net more for volleys, adding a slice backhand to my game, and also really advancing my serve! This racquet has done wonders for my game. For optimal performance I strung mine with a hybrid string combination of Wilson NXT and Luxilon 4G.

I have always bee more of a counter puncher and this is the right racquet for that. Return of serve is amazing. Great stability and depth against big hitters. If you are looking to power your way into a win, then look elsewhere. II play 5.0 and string up with 4G. Outlast and let them make the error.

a classic racquet

It is evident that this is an awesome, classic racquet that will be around for some time. There have been several other generations of the Radical, but Head continues to manufacture this year because it is incredibly popular. After playing with this frame I now know why everybody loves it! Not to mention the price point is great especially for how nice of a racquet this is. It is perfect for any intermediate to advanced player who might be looking to add some extra power to all areas on the court. I have not only noticed an immense increase in power, but the control was excellent as well. This racquet has a medium stiffness and is very maneuverable on the court. Probably my favorite part about it was the amount of pop I was able to generate on my serve, which is something I wasn’t able to do before. The sweet spot is forgiving and I can add some top spin to my ground strokes as well. I would definitely recommend this racquet to anyone!

Bought this racket as a reasonably priced step up from the older Ti.Radical I'd been playing. Very solid racket with a nice intermediate stiffness. Can hit with power from all areas of the court, though agree with other reviews that the denser string pattern is better suited to flatter groundstrokes and bigger swings. I've not noticed as much torque on off-center shots on serves and volleys as reported by others. A good choice in my opinion for anyone wanting solid contact and feel but not ready for the weight of something like the Wilson RF series. Great racket for the $$. I'm a competitive 4.0-4.5 player, singles and doubles.

I purchased this as a 2nd racquet, my skill level is intermediate , for sure you don't feel the ball at all doesn't even need an overgrip. Love the feel and the string tension is perfect. After I purchased it , I noticed quite a few folks at the tennis club were using the same racquet.

Best racquet yet

I went to this racquet after using a 2012 Babolat Pure Drive. This racquet was a blessing for me because I was able to swing hard and take full strokes with it. I have imperfect form (a decent 3.5) and this racquet let me play the way I wanted to. I wanted to generate my own power rather than have a racquet do it. It is nice and flexible so it is easy on the arm. I have it strung at 60lbs using Babolat Xcel French Open 17ga string. I have had it strung twice in a year and a half with the same string so I can't speak to how well it works with other string brands and tensions.

I bought this racket in 2012 and have loved it ever since. It's gone with me to the beach multiple times and aced tons of people, it's gone to semi-finals with me in high school regional tournament twice and has never cracked after the multiple slams on the court. This racquet has a large sweet spot with a perfect weight distribution. I'm planing on buying another 2. The small head size makes for alot of speed and a great amount of control. I never get tired of this racquet and I believe it will last me another 2 years. I recommend this racquet to any player of any skill level and look forward to 3 more years of high school tennis with it.

I just purchased two Head Radical Microgel MPs to replace a 10+ year old Prince. The Head gives much more control on ground strokes. For the price, this is an excellent racquet. It is well suited for someone who generates their own power and is looking for precision. I'm still working on adjusting depth of my ground strokes as well as service placement. Overall, it's hard to justify paying twice as much for "this year's model" when this racquet performs so well.
