New for 2018, Yonex updated the 2016 Spin Vortex version with an all-new VCORE 98. Endorsed on the ATP tour by American Steve Johnson.

Yonex has improved the VCORE to become an even more spin-friendly frame. They’ve made some big updates adding key technology pieces to the frame — including new Aero Trench & Linear Tech.

To help achieve faster head speeds for increased spin potential, Yonex’s new Aero Trench reduces drag by uniquely hiding the grommets located at the top of the frame. This allows for easy maneuverability. Further adding to that spin potential, Yonex engineered straight grommet hole grommets that allow for more string movement on outer areas of the racquet.

The new VCORE features Yonex’s signature racquet technology, Isometric Shape which generates a 7% larger sweet spot for great control without sacrificing power.

Yonex has added N.A.M.D to the bridge of the frame -- this new graphite which was also featured in the VCORE Pro frames allows for more flex and torque at ball contact. Yonex has tested and reported that the VCORE's are 7% more flexible than the SV.

This new VCORE 98 features updates to the Aerodynamic fins — that were also featured on the SV. Yonex added fins positioned towards the bottom throat area of the VCORE frame to allow improved maneuverability. The Aero Fins remain along the inner & outer areas at the 2&10 o’clock positions — producing a fast, aerodynamic racquet that allows easy access to spin.

With a 98 square inch head, 11.4 ounces strung weight and an updated 16x19 string pattern from the SV's 16x20 string pattern; the VCORE 98 is an excellent option for the intermediate to advanced player seeking a fast, aerodynamic racquet that allows easy access to spin.

For Optimal String Performance Yonex Recommends:

I'm a new tennis player and started with a Wilson Blade. It was too stiff for my hand. Switched to the Yonex, much better feel, for me

Probably the best all around stick in the Yonex lineup. Good (albeit a little light) in stock form, but with some lead tape in the head, it becomes more stable and powerful. Great stick for customizing. I also prefer the 16 mains to the 18 mains racquets due to their higher trajectory and spin.

Great racket

As a highly competitive, highly ranked sectional player, former D1 college player, I switched from the Vcore pro 97 to the Vcore 98. The very thin beam of the Vcore pro 97 was causing problems as I was having issues with the frames cracking upon limited use from my normal matches. I demo’d the Vcore 98 and after the week, noticed I had more control, higher spin (goes hand in hand with the more control) and no loss in power generated. Decided to make the switch and feel like my unforced error percentage has certainly decreased. The Vcore pro 97 is a fantastic racket that I loved but the frame cracks were a problem. Several weeks in with the Vcore 98 and no cracks!
